Which brands we can decode
- Bradford White water heaters — supported. How Bradford White date codes work.
- Rheem, Ruud and Richmond — not yet. Rheem uses more than one serial format, and we’re still checking each against Rheem’s documentation.
- A.O. Smith, Lennox, Carrier and Bryant — not yet. We haven’t found manufacturer-published decoding rules we can rely on. A.O. Smith offers its own warranty lookup by serial number.
We’d rather say “unable to determine” than give you a date that could be off by 20 years.
Before you rely on the date
The serial tells you when the unit left the factory, not when it was installed in your home. Many rating plates also print a manufacture date. If it disagrees with a decoded result, trust the plate.
Age alone can’t tell you whether a warranty still applies. Check with the manufacturer, using your installation records.
Questions homeowners ask
Do you store the serial number I enter?
No. The lookup runs in your browser. It’s only saved if you choose to add the appliance to your home, and you review it first.
Why won’t you decode my brand?
We only add a brand after checking its rules against the manufacturer’s own documentation. Guessing from forum charts leads to wrong dates.
Is Aruvello affiliated with these manufacturers?
No. Aruvello is independent. We link to each manufacturer’s own resources where they exist.
